I’m CJ, a retired teacher who has been fly fishing and fly tying for about 20 years. I have been fishing mostly on the waters in the Driftless Region of Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota, but when my wife and I travel, I usually have at least one fly rod and plenty of flies packed in the car. In addition to my “home waters”, I have been able to fly fish in California, Colorado, Maine, New York, North Carolina and a number of other states. I even managed to get in a day of fly fishing when we toured Ireland!
Fly tying has always been a bit of a passion for me – I enjoy the challenge of tying new and different patterns, usually putting my own twist on them. I’ve even developed a few original patterns over the years.
When I retired, I decided to turn my passion into a business venture – something to keep me active in my “old age”. Thus CJ’s Fly Box was born.
On the accompanying pages you can see a small sample of the flies that I offer in in my shop on Etsy. You can order any of the flies that you see here, as well as many others from the shop. Flies will be shipped USPS in 3 to 5 days, usually less. Etsy offers you a variety of payment options to make ordering simple and easy.
All of my flies are carefully tied using quality hooks and materials. In addition, I have fished all of the flies shown in my shop, and have caught fish with them, so I know that they work.

Hi CJ – I’ve been out fishing several times in the Driftless with Dave Noll. We are both Tenkara fishermen – He has been quite successful using the Red Neck Pheasant Tail pattern that you tied. Any chance of you making up some more that I could purchase?

you billed me for a cancelled order. Etsy purchase. $17.90 was the price. At checkout it was $58 and change.

Got your order on 9/30 for two 3-packs of perdigon nymphs, and right behind it was a message from you tIhat you had accidentally ordered and would like a refund. I cancelled the order right away and issued a refund for 17.90, which was the total listed on the order. Etsy confirmed the refund for me. Don’t have any idea where the $58 charge came from. I can contact Etsy management and see if I can find anything out, and would suggest you do the same from your end.
If you are still interested in the flies, you will have to reorder them because I can no longer access the original order.
