Perdigon Nymphs are European competition nymphs. Many of them are tied on jig-style hooks, but I like to put mine on Firehole’s Klinkhammer/Scud hook.
Perdigons feature slender bodies, heavy tungsten beads, and hard resin-coated bodies that get them down deep in the water very quickly.
The first version that I tied was the Copper Perdigon. I stuck a half-dozen of them in my “New Flies” box and tried them out the next time I hit the stream. The trout went crazy for them. Since then, I’ve tied them in Green, Cranberry and Rainbow, and all of them have done just as well on the streams. If you haven’t fished them before, give them a try.
